National Sports Centre ‘on time and within budget’ Blakeney

Work on the new aquatic centre at the National Sports Centre is proceeding on time and within budget, Government has announced. Sport Minister, Glenn Blakeney, updated the House of Assembly on progress being made and said that $8 million had been spent so far on the $19 million project.“The project is expected to be fully completed by September 2012 on time and within budget,” Minister Blakeney said. The Minister also informed the House that the ratio of Bermudian to non-Bermudian workers was 50-50, for a total workforce of 26.He said that the project had hired foreign workers because the aquatic centre to be the first Olympic sized swimming pool in Bermuda was a specialised project being built to internationally certified standards and required workers with the requisite experience.
