Ministry of Justice budget approved
Updated: Mar 27, 2012 09:47 AM
The Ministry of Justice's $58.5 million budget was approved in the Senate yesterday without debate.
While the budget sparked a long debate in the House of Assembly, the Ministry's budget was allotted only a half-hour for debate in the Senate. As a result, there was no time left for questions to be heard.
In the brief, Justice Minister Kim Wilson noted that efforts would be made to curb the rising legal aid bill.
She also praised the success of anti-money laundering legislation which has lead to seven convictions locally and helped lead to seven more convictions overseas.
