Voting shows takes to TV

A new look Parliamentary special news report will air Thursday aimed at helping voters with any queries surrounding the voting process.Focusing on voter awareness, the parliamentary registrars are looking to make sure that everyone is aware of what is going on prior to election day.The hope for this new idea is to gain a greater turnout from past years and create a buzz heading into the final days before the election.Topics such as new constituency boundaries and where you should be voting, all polling stations and other vital information will be included.Glenn Jones and Charmaine Burgess will host the show.“What we are tyring to do is breed a certain excitement around this election and this new format to influence voters to get out and vote,” said assistant Parliamentary registrar.“The details and look are that of CNN and BBC, so it is a refreshing difference from the norm.“The campaign is basically to let people know the little things about the election including how to fill out the voting form.“We don’t want to have anyone running around looking for where they should vote or not knowing times that the stations will be open, so this will allow them to get all the information they need to feel comfortable going into the voting process.“A lot of the older generation don’t have computers and the internet isn’t their best means of finding out the information.“Also factor in the speed at which information is given out in this modern day opposed to in the past, they may find it a bit too much so this is to hit all sectors of Bermuda.”Once aired the programme will go on the parliamentary registry website.Start time for the showing on Thursday is 8pm and can be seen on VSB, BSN, and CITV, while a second showing will take place on December 10 on ZBM at 8.05pm.There will also be commercials throughout the show, highlighting recognised individuals in Bermuda’s past.
