The London arm of Hamilton Insurance Group has appointed a new chief financial officer.

Hamilton Underwriting, the managing agent for Hamilton’s Lloyd’s syndicate, has named Simon Barnett to the role.

Mr Barnett, who has more than 20 years of experience in the non-life insurance industry, will report to managing agency CEO Dermot O’Donohoe.

Mr O’Donohoe said: “I’m pleased to welcome Simon to our team at Hamilton Underwriting Ltd. He joins us in a newly established role, one that will be critical to our success in establishing a profitable, diversified Lloyd’s syndicate.”

Mr Barnett joins Hamilton Underwriting after 12 years with XL Group, where he was responsible for developing strategic and annual business plans, monitoring results against the plans and providing advice on new business initiatives.
