New role for Nicholas Garside at Liberty Specialty Markets

Liberty Specialty Markets Bermuda has appointed Nicholas Garside to the newly created role of chief underwriting officer. He will report to LSM Bermuda president Steve Horton.

Liberty Specialty Markets is part of Liberty Mutual Insurance.

Mr Garside previously led LSM Bermuda’s Property unit. He will provide strategic direction and leadership for LSM Bermuda’s underwriting functions, driving portfolio optimisation and enhancing broker engagement across all coverage lines.

Also promoted to serve under Mr Garside are Joanna Din, head of specialty risk; Andrew Osborne, head of Bermuda healthcare; and Daniel Rance, head of financial lines.

Mr Horton said: “Nick has the ideal blend of leadership and underwriting management experience to thrive in this new role.

“Appointing a chief underwriting officer to oversee all of our coverage offerings provides the management oversight needed for us to continue to outperform the market.”

The appointments of Mr Garside and Ms Din are subject to immigration approval.
