Christ will come again

The Rev Erskine Simmons

I am a Christian and Easter is the central focus of my faith. I believe that Christ was the incarnate son of God. He was both human and divine. He lived a normal life up until his 30th birthday. After overcoming forty days of fasting, followed by temptations from the devil, He entered into his earthly ministry that lasted approximately three years. He was crucified by the Roman governor of Palestine at the instigation of the religious leaders of the Jewish populace. He was in a sealed grave for three days and early on the Sunday morning He was raised from death to life eternal.Easter is a time for us to reflect upon the suffering that he endured, first in his mind and then in his body. He knew in advance what would happen to him and he knew who would do it. The night before He was crucified He ate food with his betrayer and washed his feet. He refused to use his divine powers to circumvent this suffering. He obeyed the will of his Father, and by his action He paid the penalty for the sin of mankind. As our resurrected Lord, He and his Father, dispense the Holy Spirit to be our helper.Easter brings a regeneration and renewal of our faith in God’s ability to preserve our souls from death, and to one day to raise our bodies to eternal life.We are also reminded that Christ will come again to claim and collect all who have put their faith in Him.Happy Easter
