Police and Mariners in Memorial match

Police rugby club and Mariners will lock horns today in the sixth annual Paul Marsden Memorial match.Marsden, a popular Police player and officer, tragically died in January, 2006, on the field while playing against Mariners in a league game.The cause of his death was given as coronary arrest.A minute’s silence will be observed before the today’s 3pm kick-off.BPRFC chairman and Acting Superintendent Sean Field-Lament, who will be attending the game, said: “This is our sixth year playing the game and it is always a fun time, although the reason we are gathering is due to the loss of a friend.”Following the game, all rugby colleagues, friends and associates are invited to take part in the celebration of Marsden’s life and contribution to Police rugby.
