Minors strike sinks Hood

Robin Hood 0 Wolves 1A first-half strike by Vincent Minors gave Wolves victory over Robin Hood in an FA Cup second round replay at BAA Field last night.Wolves took the lead in the 23rd minute when Minors struck a powerful shot from outside the box which beat Hood goalkeeper Jason Simmons. Both teams created chances but neither could add to the score with Wolves progressing to next round where they will face Premier Division side St. David’s at Lords later this month. The first game between the Wolves and Hood ended 1-1 with the latter scoring a late equaliser to force the replay.Wolves’ skipper Minors felt his team had been the better of the two sides over the two ties.“It was a very hard game and Robin Hood are a difficult side to play against it was a battle out there,” he said.“They got the late equaliser in the last game but I felt we deserved to go through tonight.“To be honest it’s a bonus for us to win tonight because we’re concentrating on the league.“It’s more important that we get three points at the weekend. In the next round we face St. David’s and that’s a nice draw for us and we believe we can win.”Robin Hood: J Simons, T Terceira, M Watson, A Williams, G McKeller (R Paul, 60), D Bascome, N Churchill, S Phillips, J Crockwell (R Baker, 65), S Simons (L Tota, 70)Substitutes not used: K Robinson, R BascomeYellow card: TerceiraWolves: D Adams, D Simons, S Lee, A Brangman, R Hill, T Davies, V Minors, L Paynter, M Ming (S Richardson, 76), K BrangmanSubstitutes not used: J Nusum, R Ford, S Richardson, D Brangman J MinorsGoals: V Minors, 23Referee: T AdamsMan of the match: V Minorsn FA Cup quarter-final drawDevonshire Cougars v St. George’s at Devonshire Rec.St. David’s v Wolves at Lords.Southampton Rangers v Dandy Town at Southampton Oval.Prospect United v PHC at Police Field.Ties to be played on Sunday, January 30.All games will kick-off at 2.30pm.
