Crucial weekend for PHC and Hornets
Devonshire Cougars v PHCWith Devonshire Cougars out of the Premier Division championship race and focusing on their defence of their FA Cup, PHC will be confident of going to the ‘Den’ and sneaking out a win to keep their title dreams alive tonight. But it won’t be an easy task as the Big Cats have a knack of blowing title races wide open with crucial results.Still missing a few key players, Zebras will need a real team performance if they’re to repeat the performance they delivered against the other Devonshire team, Colts, last week.Cougars shouldn’t be underestimated and with the talent they have, it could be a goal-fest with both teams having proven match winners in their respective camps.Prediction: Cougars 2-1Dandy Town v BoulevardDandy Town will look to continue the high they are on after beating North Village last week to force themselves back into the title race at St. John’s Field.Another home date with cross-town rivals Boulevard could serve as a good test of their credentials considering they seem to struggle with every side apart from Village.Boulevard are the draw specialists this year, but they’re sitting safe in the middle of the table currently and will look to cause an upset here. With Raymond Beach hitting his goalscoring stride it could be a long day at the office for the Boulevard defenders.Prediction: Town 2-0Southampton Rangers –v North VillageRangers need to start shifting gears as they look to manoeuver themselves away from the relegation zone. A victory on Sunday over Village would certainly go along way to doing that.Should they succeed at the Southampton Oval, it would blow the title race open even further, depending on how PHC and Town get on, and Village will be wary of what happened last year when they melted down at the final hurdle.Possessing the arsenal they have, Village should be able to get a favourable result in this one and keep their slim lead at the top.Prediction: Village 3-1Devonshire Colts –v Somerset EaglesConsidering they have a game in hand over their fellow strugglers, it’s vital for Somerset Eagles to get a result out of this match knowing they could leapfrog Rangers with a victory at Police Field. But they will have to take care of Colts first and give themselves some breathing space from their fellow strugglers. For Colts, they need to start picking up points if they are to stand any chance of getting out of the hole they are in. A defeat would almost certainly be a nail in their coffin. A massive game for both clubs who are desperately in need of a victory.Prediction: Eagles 2-0St. George’s v St. David’sComing off a loss to Rangers in their last outing, St. David’s need a few more wins to make sure they stay up, and would love nothing more then to exact revenge on St. George’s who beat them in the first derby of the season.St. George’s, who have been the surprise package of the season, will have no problems getting up for this one considering it’s on home turf, so the advantage will have to go to the hosts, although derby games are always close.Prediction: St. George’s 3-2
