Wells ready for first team, says Abbott
Carlisle United’s Nahki Wells is getting closer to a first team place after impressing in training, says manager Greg Abbott.Wells, 19, came off the bench for a 20 minute appearance at Southampton last Saturday and the United boss has been impressed by the young striker’s progress.“Nahki has been really lively in training and it was a chance to have a look at him,” Abbott told the News and Star.“Saturday will have given him more of an idea about what the game is about, in terms of its tempo and pace.“It’s an education for him and that’s what he is here for to learn and develop into a better player.”Wells, formerly of Dandy Town, signed a five-month contract for the Cumbrian outfit on New Year’s Day.He was recommended to the club by former professional Mark Ellis who coached Wells at the International Academic Soccer Academy, in the UK, where he had been attending since last August.
