Wells misses out on final at Wembley
Carlisle United lifted the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy at Wembley yesterday by beating Brentford 1-0 but there was no place for Nahki Wells on the substitutes’ bench.Wells, who has made four first team appearances for Carlisle this season, was not named as one of the team’s five substitutes.Long-serving defender Peter Murphy scored the only goal of the game to erase the memory of Carlisle’s 4-1 defeat by Southampton at the same stage last year.Bermuda’s Reggie Lambe was an unused substitute in Bristol Rovers’ 1-0 win away at Yeovil on Saturday. Gavin Williams scored for the visitors.Angelo Simmons was unable to make his debut for English non-league side Carshalton United reserves as he could not get international clearance in time for Saturday’s game. He is now hoping to play in next weekend’s game.
