Wells pushing for place in Carlisle team

Bermuda’s Nahki Wells is jostling for a place in Carlisle’s team for their trip to Milton Keynes tomorrow.Places are up for grabs due to the injuries suffered by United strikers Ben Marshall and Francois Zoko in last weekends Wembley triumph against Brentford in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy. It’s understood Rory Loy and Paddy Madden are favourites to fill the striker voids, although Wells has done his cause no harm by scoring in Wednesday night’s reserve team win over Gillford Park in the Cumberland Cup.United boss Greg Abbott described that match as a “first team audition” and was there to watch Wells get his name on the scoresheet.Coach Eric Kindler said: “I would think Rory, Paddy, Nahki and Ben (Marshall) will all be pushing for a place on the coach to Milton Keynes.”Wells, who was left out of the squad for last Sunday’s Wembley final, has made four first team appearances for Carlisle this season.
