Lambe sweating on Rovers decision

Reggie Lambe

Reggie Lambe is desperate to seal a permanent deal at English side Bristol Rovers where he spent two months on loan at the end of last season.Lambe made seven appearances for the Pirates then under the stewardship of caretaker manager, Stuart Campbell, who was unable to save them from relegation to League Two.The club have since appointed Paul Buckle as their new manager, with Lambe hoping the ex-Torquay United boss will offer him a contract despite not seeing him in action.“I’m hoping to get a deal with Bristol Rovers, I really enjoyed my time there and would like to move there permanently,” said Lambe, who is out of contract after being released by Championship outfit Ipswich Town.“They didn’t really have a manager in place but that’s been sorted now, so I’m waiting to see what happens. I expect they will be talking to my agent within the next two weeks and I’m hoping they offer me something.”Lambe had been hoping to stay with Championship side Ipswich, whose academy he joined from school, but understood manager Paul Jewell’s decision to cut him loose.“I went out on loan to Bristol Rovers hoping it would boost my chances of getting another contract with Ipswich, but it wasn’t to be,” said Lambe. “I really enjoyed my time at the club and gained some valuable experience.“(Paul Jewell) was excellent when he informed of his decision and spoke to me very respectfully. He told me what I needed to improve and I really appreciate that.”The 20-year-old winger said he won’t be making a decision about his future until Rovers had made up their mind about him, but insisted there were offers on the table from other clubs.“There has been other offers,” said the Bermuda international.“I haven’t turned a blind eye to them but I want to see what happens with Rovers first. My agent’s sorted everything out for me and I should know more in the next two weeks.”Since returning to the Island, Lambe has been training with the Bermuda Hogges to maintain match fitness, and did consider turning out for the amateur side this summer. However yesterday he said he had decided against pulling on a Hogges shirt, as he would be heading back to the UK soon in the hope of starting pre-season training at a new club.“I’ve been training with the Hogges to keep myself fit, but there’s only two home games left before I head back to the UK so it wouldn’t really be worth playing for them,” Lambe said.Lambe made two Championship and five Carling Cup appearances for Ipswich during his two professional seasons at the club.n Bermuda National Academy players Dale Eve and Shackeill Burrows helped their UK high school to a comfortable 6-1 –victory in their recent regional finals.Eve, who plays for Stoke City’s Academy and Burrows, son of former national team –defender Meshach Wade, have been key players for Djanogly City Academy, in Nottingham, this season. Both youngsters formerly –attended CedarBridge Academy.
