Hogges’ boss Lowe hails his team’s consistency

Bermuda Hogges coach Maurice Lowe has hailed his team’s newfound belief after winning three successive games for the first time in their four-year history.Hogges failed to win any of their first seven matches this season but have struck red-hot form in recent weeks, climbing to fifth in the division following victories over Westchester Flames, New Jersey Rangers and Ocean City.Tonight they will look to extend their winning streak when they face Central Jersey Spartans the third of their four-match road trip of New Jersey with Lowe confident of another three-point haul.“Our belief is stronger, we now feel very confident that we can continue with the positive results,” he said. “We’ve shown the ability to be consistent in all three games. We stress best practice therefore we’re starting to reap the rewards from all players, including starters and subs.”With senior internationals such as Kwame Steede, Lashun Dill and Khano Smith being drafted into Hogges’ squad this campaign, Lowe has remained steadfast in his faith that his side’s form would improve sooner rather than later. And he credits Bermuda Football Association’s National Academy for enabling Hoggges’ newcomers Zeiko Lewis, Tre Ming, Daniel Andrade and Reiko Trott to hit the ground running, having held their own alongside their more seasoned team-mates.“The National Academy and more international competitions have allowed our younger players to join the Hogges squad; they are now well-versed in the national game style,” said Lowe, a National Academy coach.“Their understanding and increased understanding from the senior players has us winning more individual battles throughout the pitch.”Between the sticks, Tahj Bell has been in terrific form for Hogges this term with Lowe singling out the rangy shot-stopper for special praise having kept back-to-back clean sheets.“Tahj has always had physical presence and is now determined not too be scored against,” he said. “He’s made some really outstanding saves during the last three games, therefore he’s kept us in the match. Together with the group of players playing in front of him, he’s doing a great job protecting our goal.”Hogges take on Central Jersey Spartans at Rider University Field tonight at 9pm (Bermuda time)Hogges winning streak2-1 v Westchester Flames3-0 v New Jersey Rangers1-0 v Ocean City
