‘We’ll respect new boys Hood’ says Ming
Dandy Town winger Damon Ming insists that his side won’t take new boys Robin Hood lightly when the two lock horns tomorrow at St John’s Field.Hood have enjoyed a good start to their inaugural season in the Premier Division with a win and draw in their opening two fixtures, and currently lie in third place in the standings.Their more illustrious rivals, however, are one point behind and will be looking to make a push towards the top with their first home win of the season, something that Ming believes his club can do.“It is another game to us, they have gotten off to a good start which isn’t surprising really,” said Ming. “They have a good coaching staff and a few good players but we are looking at what we need to do in order to get the result.“We want to get our first win at home on Sunday after our opening day loss at home, and this weekend hopefully we can get what we would like out of the match.“We didn’t get the required result out of the first home match but we are on top of things and looking to grow with each performance and on game-day put all the pieces to the puzzle together.“We are taking every game as it comes, we aren’t underestimating anybody, we are looking to play our game and get the job done. While the international break gave many teams a chance to have a short rest, Ming and a few of his team-mates competed in Bermuda’s World Cup qualifying games against Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana, gaining match fitness while playing at a higher level.Nothing changed for the Hornets during the two-week break as the coaching staff put the squad through their paces in preparation for the continuation of the season.“The break could have helped and hurt teams, but speaking for us we were business as normal. we said at the beginning of the pre-season we are looking to do some good things this season so we are putting in the work and not shying away from anything.“We are looking to continue building on our start and be on the right side of the result come Sunday morning.”Elsewhere in the Permier Division, Somerset Trojans welcome St David’s to Somerset Cricket Club tonight with both sides looking to get their first win of the season as the pair hold down the bottom two spots in the table.Tomorrow’s only other top flight match sees PHC tackle Southampton Rangers at Southampton Oval.Zebras currently sit on top of the standings courtesy of goal difference and will be looking to pad their lead with North Village not in action this weekend.
