Bermuda jump up to 109th in FIFA rankings

Bermuda’s national football team have jumped up FIFA’s World Rankings to 109th position following their pair of home victories over Barbados in this month’s World Cup qualifiers.The Gombey Warriors, who achieved back-to-back wins against the Bajan Tridents, climbed 22 places and are now ten positions ahead of New Zealand who drew with Slovakia and Italy at the last World Cup.Bermuda were the biggest movers in the global ranking ladder last month, advancing 57 places in the pecking order from 189 to 132 after beating Trinidad and drawing with Guyana at the National Sports Centre.They will now be hoping to be named a seeded team at this summer’s Digicel Caribbean Cup.The Island’s highest ranking was back in 1993 when Gary Darrell’s side reached 84th spot.
