Wells on target again in Bradford victory
Nahki Wells was on target in Bradford City’s biggest win of the season with a 3-0 victory against Crewe Alexandra on Boxing Day.Wells gave the Bantams an early lead after David Artell’s defensive header ricocheted off the Bermuda striker past Steve Phillips in the Crewe goal.The 21-year-old, who was released by Carlisle United at the end of last season, has now scored three goals since joining League Two Bradford.Phil Parkinson, the Bradford boss, praised Wells and his strike partner James Hanson for setting the tone up front.“(Wells and Hanson) chased everything and made challenges when they had no right to win the ball. The front two typified the performance,” said Parkinson.Crewe’s Lee Bell hit the underside of the crossbar from the penalty spot and striker Hanson punished the visitors by hammering in a low shot.Hanson made it 3-0 when he turned in Luke Oliver’s flick on from 10 yards.Bradford, who have climbed to 19th in the standings, are unbeaten in four league matches.
