Outerbridge bags brace in Hood victory
David Outerbridge scored a second half brace as Robin Hood saw off Southampton Rangers in last night’s Digicel Premier Division match at BAA Field.Outerbridge grabbed goals in the 70th and 84th minute, while Joshua Crockwell scored in the 28th.It was the hosts who came out with the intent of grabbing three vital points, possessing the ball for longer spells in the opening, resulting in Crockwell’s goal after he was found unmarked at close range.Hood had a chance to go up by two just before the break, but Marcelos Thomas sailed his effort over the goal from six yards.Yuzaire Bean almost brought the sides level early in the second half after a neat one two with Dennis Russell, but his shot was right at Hood goalkeeper Jason Simons.Vernon Perinchief also had a long range shot just miss the Hood goal.It was Outerbridge who took the game by the scruff of the neck, when he turned and fired home from 18 yards off a long punt from Simons. The striker then put the game beyond the visitors, making the most of a defensive error and firing home from 12 yards.Simons said: “It is a great result for us, I thought we bossed the game and deserved the win,” said Simons.“Given how close we were with them in the league, the points put a gap between us and we should be safe from the drop with a few more good results.”Robin Hood: J Simons, J Duffy, J Crockwell, L Tota, M Watson (R Paul, 67), D Reitze, H Robinson, M Thomas (T Terceira, 55), B Robinson, K Robinson, D BascomeSubstitutes not used: C Watson, T Figuerido, M Place, M HuntGoals: J Crockwell, 28, D Outerbridge, 70, 84Southampton Rangers: S Perinchief, M Williams, I Mallory(M Burch, 75), M Tatem, J Caisey, C Castle (D Russell, 55), V Perinchief, Y Bean, J Charles, R Lowe (R Lowe, 63), K JonesSubstitutes not used: K Symonds, D CurtisReferee: A FrancisMan of the Match: J Duffy
