Ming awarded All-State honours

Tre Ming was named on the All-State team for the second successive year after helping South Kent School to a 19-0-1 record in the recently complete football season.Ming, a senior at the school, was named to the Connecticut Soccer Coaches Association (CSCA) All State team along with the All New England team for the first time. The personal accolades are a good reward for his hard work throughout the season that saw the team go undefeated.“Being voted a second year is just an honour, I’m extremely thankful and humble at the same time,” said Ming. “It just means I’m doing something right.“Achieving this for a second time has just made me work even harder than before. Speaking on my season it was just a great experience, being able to go undefeated is remarkable regardless of what the competition is like.“My team along with the other Bermudians put in hours of training and preparation, we were just ready for every challenge physically and mentally, that also goes to my coach Owen Finberg for keeping us dialled in and focused.“This has all been just a great cup run and season we did especially off support from family and friends. Everyone had a role and did it at a high level.”Each year the CSCA hosts an All-State Banquet to honour boys soccer players from around the state who were elected to the All-State, All-New England and All-American teams. In addition, the CSCA also recognises various individuals and teams for their contributions over the past year and/or career.Ming was ranked 81st on the All-State list, while also being ranked 15th on the All New England List. The school’s football programme is coming off its fourth consecutive New England Championship in 2011 and fifth in six years, with coach Finberg planning to come to Bermuda to evaluate and recruit players for the 2012 2013 school year.He will conduct trials at the BFA field on Sunday February 12th and Monday February 13th.
