Free Valencia camp for public school youngsters

The ABC Football School will be holding a skills camp for youngsters at Victor Scott Primary School later this month.

ABC, run by top local coach Andrew Bascome has invited 70 children, aged between 7-11, to train with coaches from coaches from Spanish giants Valencia between February 13 to 17.

The Next Generation Valencia CF camp will be free of charge and is aimed at youngsters who attend the Island’s public primary schools.

Bascome will be joined by Valencia’s David Sanzs and Magro Oliva as well as a handful of other coaches.

The daily sessions will start at 9am, with early drop off starting at 8am, and the sessions will end at 4pm, with late pickup extended to 5pm.

Bascome said: “We are very pleased to be able to bring this fantastic opportunity to our young aspiring football players.

“Football is so much more than a sport, it provides our youngsters with a change to learn and experience life long skills like effort, team, support, and structure.

“David and Magro are highly qualified and dedicated coaches, and their passion for the sport is such a positive influence on the children. Good habits start early and that is what we want to bring to Bermuda.”

Oliva, technical director at the Valencia academy at Saltus School, added: “After having spent almost five months in Bermuda, David and I can see that the football culture is very strong here. We have also seen the success in integrating the Next Generation Valencia CF methodology and structure at the Valencia Academy at Saltus, and we look forward to bringing that same methodology, structures and technique to a new group of Bermuda players.

“We are all about educating and sharing our passion with our children, while they are having fun and enjoying what they are doing.”
