Somerset Trojans 3North Village 2Adrian Burrows’ brace was enough to put Somerset Trojans into the semi finals of the Dudley Eve as they helped on for their win over North Village at Goose Gosling Field.Burrows scored what proved to be the winning goals in the 67th and 72nd minute after Tahj Wade put the west enders ahead in the 36th, while Pierre Smith and Corey Boyce scored in the 39th and 82nd minutes for Village.“There is a lot of hard work being put into training and so forth and we as the players need to execute the plan and get the job done on the day,” said Burrows. “The coach said winning is contagious and we want to keep this winning feeling. I scored but it is about the team and in the end we won as a team.”Trojans grabbed the lead when Wade was found in the area by Jameko Harvey-Outerbridge and made no mistake with his header, but the lead lasted only four minutes after Smith bundled his effort home at the second time of asking.Burrows then capitalised on a goalkeeping error on Dwayne Adams’ part, out jumping the veteran stopper to nod home from close range. The eventual winner would come shortly after he got his first when a defensive lapse at the back allowed Tyrell Burgess an avenue to play Burrows through, where he made no mistake from five yards.Nerves were jangling at the end, however, as Boyce put home a rebound to pull Rams within one with ten minutes to play, but in the end the mountain was too steep to climb as the final whistle blew.“It’s not the best way to start a competition but in the end we have to move on and continue putting in the work,” said Smith.“We fought hard, but we didn’t get the result we wanted but the fight is there, there was a couple errors defensively and when you play a good team like them they will punish you.”Village’s fate now lies in their final match next week against PHC.Somerset Trojans: S Bean, T Ming, I Mallory, A Burrows, J Harvey- Outerbridge (N Smith, 67), J Rogers, T Burgess, G Smith (J Simmons, 57), A Trott, T Harvey(S Brangman, 67), T WadeSubs not used: V Blanchette, N Smith, D Burgess, R Simons, G Smith, M JonesGoals: Harvey-Outerbridge, 35, A Burrows, 67,72North Village: D Adams, V Ming (N Lopes, 72), P Castle, K Talbot, J Davis, C Boyce, T Watson, K Dill, P Smith, R Bean, S DeGraffSubs not used: J Manders, N Lopes, D Hunt, R DublinGoals: P Smith, 39, C Boyce, 82Referee: L. Cougars 1 Dandy Town 4The semi-final spots from Group A were settled last night when a second half burst by Dandy Town eliminated Devonshire Cougars from the competition.Cougars, who lost their opener against St. George’s last week, threatened to keep the group interesting when they took the lead in the 21st minute through Domico Coddington’s close range shot. However, Town gradually began to find their feet around the half-hour mark when Angelo Simmons went close after riding a challenge inside the box. Then captain Damon Ming set up a good chance for K’wonde Lathan but he failed to connect when with just the keeper to beat. The goal finally came in the 40th minute when midfielder Brandon Minors’ low shot from a deep angle on the left took a deflection off Darius Cox’s boot before beating Kioshi Trott at the near post. The second half was practically all Town who made Cougars pay for wasting a couple of good chances through Lejuan Simmons and Kor-von Tucker by taking the lead on the hour through Angelo Simmons who finished calmly after a collision between the Cougars ‘keeper and defender Kijuan Franks left the striker with the goal at his mercy.Ming cushioned the lead to 3-1 when he scored from the penalty spot in the 68th minute following a foul by ‘keeper Trott on Seon Darrell. And in injury time Antonio Lowe capped off a good performance by Town with a far post header after a cross into the box was not cleared.Dev.Cougars: K.Trott; K.Franks, Z.White (D.Williams 17min), D.Cox, M.Steede, L.Simmons, C.Caisey, K.Tucker, J.Seymour, D.Bascome (D.Daniels 77min), D.Coddington (C.Brangman 69min).Subs not used: K.Goddard, L.Tota, T.Dill, J.Smith.Goal: D.Coddington, 21min.Dandy Town: T.Gibbons; K.Wade, K.Lathan, A.Lowe, F.Frankson, D.Ming, B.Minors (S.Tuzo 64min), S.Darrell, L.Tucker (T.Webb 79min), A.Simmons, A.Grant (R.Beach 64min).Subs not used: D.Johnson, K.Tucker, D.Butterfield, A.Rocker, A.Gibbons, K.TuckerGoals: B.Minors 40min, A.Simmons 60min, D.Ming, pen 68min, A.Lowe 90min.Referee: A.Francis.Man of the match: D.
