Nahki a natural goalscorer says coach
Phil Parkinson has labelled Nahki Wells a “natural goalscorer” and believes he will only improve after committing his future to Bradford City for the next three years.Wells has tied himself to the club until 2015 after putting pen to paper on the improved deal that has been on the table since last summer. He had been linked with a move away from Valley Parade with Charlton and Peterborough rumoured to have been interested in the free-scoring striker.City coach Parkinson said he was thrilled Wells had ended the uncertainly surrounding his future having feared losing the 23-year-old next summer.“We didn’t want to let Nahki’s contract situation affect him or affect the club’s progress,” he told the Bradford Telegraph and Argus.“We didn’t want to get into that scenario. That’s why we’re so pleased to have got it resolved now.“We want to keep our best young players and Nahki is certainly one of those. He’s made really good progress in the last 12 months and I’m confident he will keep improving as a player.“I know he has got a hunger to be successful and a real desire to be the best he can.“Nahki will keep improving, there’s no question about that. He has got a real focus.“It’s great for us. He is ambitious and has a great attitude to do well.”Wells has emerged as a jewel in the crown for City since being recommended to the club by their former winger Mark Ellis.Last season the former Dandy Town player bagged 12 goals, including a hat-trick against Northampton Town, while he has already notched five goals to make him joint top scorer this term.Parkinson added: “Nahki is a talented player and his biggest attribute is the ability to finish with both feet. He is a very cool finisher.“Getting players who are natural goalscorers is difficult and Nahki has definitely got that attribute.”Wells, who ruled himself out of Bermuda’s recent Digicel Cup campaign, sparked a dramatic late comeback win against Burton Albion in the League Cup last week, scoring twice to send the game into extra-time.
