PHC look to find scoring touch
PHC travel to St John’s Field tomorrow to face defending league champions Dandy Town looking to correct mistakes from their opening two matches that have seen them fall behind early in the title race.Zebras have picked up just one point from their opening two fixtures, a loss to Devonshire Cougars on the road and a draw at home against Southampton Rangers, a game the side feel they should have won.Although results haven’t gone their way, striker Kevin Lambe believes PHC will become a legitimate threat to their rivals if they can become more clinical in front of goal.“We need to finish our chances, if we can do that then we should be able to get something out of the match,” said Lambe.“We have haven’t played badly, but in front of goals we have been lacking that final touch that can help us win games or at least put pressure on the opposition so this needs to improve for us to get results.”Zebras’ missed opportunities in front of goal arguably cost them in the Dudley Eve, a problem which has been compounded with both Antwan Russell (Robin Hood) and Aquino Grant (Dandy Town) leaving the club.Lambe, however, pointed out that although this key area needs to be addressed quickly, it only takes one game to get back on track and is quietly confident they can cause an upset against Hornets.“Every game we have played and lost we were in it and had chances to get something out of it, if not the three points, and once we get our finishing together then we should be okay,” he said.“This is the only thing that is holding us back from getting wins rather than sharing the points.”Elsewhere in top flight action, Robin Hood host Devonshire Cougars tonight at Goose Gosling Field at 9pm, while Cup Match rivals St George’s and Somerset Trojans lock horns at Wellington Oval.In the day’s other match, North Village look to continue their winning ways when they travel to Southampton Oval to take on Rangers, with kick off for all games 3pm.In First Division action, BAA entertain St David’s at Goose Gosling Field, while Boulevard go to Garrison Field to clash with X’Roads and Prospect welcome Hamilton Parish to Police Field. There is also a double-header at White Hill Field, with Paget playing Ireland Rangers and Somerset Eagles facing off against Young Men’s Social Club. All games start at 12.30pm apart from the second of the two matches at White Hill Field which will start at 3pm.
