A three-way partnership will see local footballers given the opportunity to showcase their talent to overseas coaches on a regular basis.The Midwest Soccer Academy (MSA), Bermuda’s Sports Management Group (BSMG) and Bermuda’s Brazilian Football School (BBFS) have joined forces in an effort to get locals exposed on the international scene.The partnership will provide Bermuda's senior and youth players and members of the BBFS the opportunity to foster international relations in the best interest of their soccer and educational development.Jordan Valentine, international trials and college combine manager, is pleased with the initiative set out by the trio.“We are excited to have the opportunity to offer Bermuda’s talented and grassroots players, a first class experience of international soccer,” he said. “We look forward to providing players the opportunity to showcase their talent to a wider network of professional coaches and scouts for a chance to gain a professional contract.”BSMG President Cal Blankendal was offered the opportunity to partner with MSA, as a result of the very successful BBFS Disney Tour of 2012 that saw Bermuda sides compete in the world renowned tournament in Orlando, Florida.The MSA is a partner/affiliate of Disney Sports.In previous instances, local players have been recommended to foreign clubs by their respective coaches and directors including Reggie Lambe, Nahki Wells and Freddy Hall.This won’t be the case anymore, however, with the new partnership giving them a free avenue to go out and give themselves every opportunity to impress.Blankendal added: “BSMG, MSA and BBFS look forward to a mutually beneficial partnership in the interest of soccer and education, for both Bermuda’s elite and grassroots players.“Instead of hoping your coach puts in a good word for you overseas, this will allow Bermuda’s players the opportunity to go to the trials and apply themselves in hope of catching a coach’s eye.”The trials are set for February in Florida with big name clubs including AS Roma planning to be in attendance.For more information, visit www.midwestsoccer.net, www.bermudabfs.com, or www.bermudasmg.com.
