Bermuda Football Association have teamed up the ABC Football School and Next Generation Valencia CF to hold a National Academy training camp for the Island’s top youngsters. The week-long camp, which started on Monday, is focusing on improving players’ positional skills and developing the National Academy’s style of play.Four Spanish coaches from the Next Generation Valencia CF are working with the Academy staff, including Academy director Richard Todd and head coach Andrew Bascome, to help implement a curriculum specific for the national programme.Bascome, who took the reins of the senior national team last year, is also head coach at the ABC Football School which set up the Saltus-based Valencia Camp more than 18 months ago.Todd said: “We are pleased that we will have these four Spanish coaches on Island leading the delivery of the camp instruction.“Included will be a goalkeeping coach from the Valencia Academy in Spain. This will provide a unique opportunity for our goalkeepers and goalkeeper coaches to receive specialised training and instruction from a professional goalkeeping coach.”The camp, which is being held at BFA Field and the National Sports Centre, is primarily for players born in 1998 to 2000. There will also be sessions running for the 2001 pool and a women’s select team during the evenings.
