Town ready for Wolves challenge

Hornets veteran Damon Ming

Dandy Town will travel to Devonshire Rec tonight to take on rivals Wolves in their rearranged FA Cup quarter-final fixture. The original match was set for last Friday night at the same venue, but with torrential rain throughout the day, the pitch was deemed unplayable after only five minutes. The break has given both sides a chance to rest and get extra preparation. Town, who are defending champions, are primed and ready for the game, winger Damon Ming said.“(The postponement) gave us extra time to rest, but the team is pretty good and ready to play,” he said.“We got a few days rest and that gave some players extra time to recover so we are looking to be fresh and come out hungry when the game starts.”With the league schedule taking a break for FA Cup action last weekend, both sides welcomed the break to prepare themselves for the business end of the season.Wolves beat defending Premier Division and FA Cup champions Town 4-3 at Devonshire Rec when the teams met earlier this term, a result that Ming believes will be used as motivation.“The last time we played them they were losing and came back to beat us so that result has given us added incentive to go out and get the win over a team that has beaten us already.“The loss was more about us having little mental lapses. I feel that we can get the result that will see us come out on the winning end.”Kick off is set for 8pm, while the second match cancelled over the weekend, Southampton Rangers’ trip to Goose Gosling Field to take on Robin Hood, is set for Thursday at 9pm.Devonshire Cougars are the only side to have booked their place in the semi-finals with their 2-1 win over PHC at Southampton Oval last weekend, while the Somerset derby between Eagles and Trojans will be determined via replay after ending 1-1 at Somerset Cricket Club.
