Hornets can still do the double Tuzo

Dandy Town midfielder Saki Tuzo has called on his teammates to use their FA Cup win over Wolves as a stepping stone to make a final push for the Digicel Premier Division title.Town beat Wolves on Tuesday night to advance to the semi-finals to continue their quest for a successful Cup defence.Their league defence, however, is in jeopardy of falling to the wayside with the club needing to overcome a six point gap with only five games remaining. But they have a chance to apply pressure to leaders Devonshire Cougars with their match against Flanagan’s Onions scheduled for tomorrow evening at Goose Gosling Field.“We played well against Wolves and it was pleasing to see us get into the semi-finals,” said Tuzo. “We showed that the game is a team sport and it takes everyone on the pitch to get a result.“It was a slow start to the game for us, but this match does a lot for us in terms of going forward for the rest of the season. Hopefully we can take this and transfer it to the league match on Saturday and apply pressure to the league leaders.“When you look at how things are going, points are at a premium and we want to start putting together good results and seeing where that takes us.“Devonshire Cougars are in the driving seat at the moment but as long as we do our job then there is nothing else we can do.”Onions have been a tough prospect for Town this season, taking their much-fancied rivals to a replay in the previous round of the FA Cup before blowing a two-goal lead that led to their exit.“Flanagan’s have given us a hard time in our encounters and we won’t take them lightly and hopefully we come away with the points,” added Tuzo.Elsewhere this weekend, Cougars travel to Somerset Cricket Club to play Somerset Trojans, with the west enders looking to close their gap on Cougars to three points.St George’s will be looking to lift themselves out of the bottom two when they play Wolves at Wellington Oval, with the Devonshire-based side seven points ahead of the east enders, while bottom club Robin Hood welcome Southampton Rangers to Goose Gosling Field. The other match of the day pits second place PHC against North Village at Southampton Oval.In First Division action, St David’s entertain Young Men’s Social Club at Lords, while Wellington Oval will be the venue for Hamilton Parish and BAA.Boulevard tackle Somerset Eagles at Goose Gosling Field, and Devonshire Colts lock horns with X-Roads.The remaining fixture sees Ireland Rangers and Prospect clash at Malabar.
