Rangers braced for another tough test against Hood

The final two spots in the FA Cup semi-finals will be decided tonight at Somerset Cricket Club when a double-header of replays takes place.Devonshire Cougars and defending FA Cup champions Dandy Town have already booked their places in the last four with wins over PHC and Wolves respectively.Tonight Southampton Rangers lock horns with Robin Hood while Eagles face Trojans in the Somerset derby.Rangers had to come from two goals down to draw 3-3 at Goose Gosling Field last month to force a replay. Both side will be vying to put their names in the hat for the semi-finals.Rangers striker Dennis Russell believes tonight’s game can play a significant role in his club’s approach to the remaining league fixtures as the race for Dudley Eve spots heats up.“We just want to go out and get the result; it doesn’t have to be pretty given it’s a cup game and there has to be a winner on the night,” he said .“Looking at the first game it was tight and we feel we should have won it, but the replay is in front of us and we want to win the competition.”The original fixture between the two west end sides ended in a 1-1 at Somerset Cricket Club.Eagles veteran striker Darin Dowling gave his side the lead in the 38th minute before Malachi Jones equalised for the Trojans in the 52nd minute.“It’s a derby so we can’t take them lightly, but if we can play to our potential then we should be all right to advance to the next round,” said Trojans striker Dion Stovell.“We won’t take them for granted, but we also can’t play down to their level in order to get the result.“They played well in the first match and we will need to be prepared for everything they throw at us.”Rangers clash with Hood starts at 7pm, while the Somerset derby kicks off at 9pm.
