Robinson: Zebras must return to winning ways
PHC will have an opportunity to get their league campaign back on track tomorrow when they host Southampton Rangers at Southampton Oval.Having lost four successive games on the run, including defeat in the Dudley Eve semi-finals, Zebras find themselves in a precarious position of holding up the Premier Division table. But skipper Cecoy Robinson believes a derby win against Rangers can act as a platform for his side to start repairing their dismal start to the season.“The derby should be a good test of character for us and I think everybody is up to putting in a good shift,” said Robinson.“A win would be good for us going forward and would add more confidence in the dressing room.“We will take one game at a time to try and get the best results possible for us going forward.”PHC have been on a losing streak since the opening day of the season when they lost 2-1 to Wolves.A 3-1 home defeat to title hopefuls Dandy Town followed their first loss, coupled with a 2-1 loss to Flanagan’s Onions in their last league fixture has left PHC without a single point. They will also have to make due without winger Shaki Smith, who is out for the foreseeable future with an injury.“Shakir has been a miss but we have a pretty big roster and a few promising youngsters that can give us a bit of a different look,” added Robinson.“It’s a long season, every team will have its injuries but the main thing is to continue to stick together and work together as a team.“One win can change a lot of things, especially the mindset of a club so we just need to the first win and we will be okay.”A double-header highlights tomorrow night’s action when Somerset Eagles welcome Robin Hood to Somerset Cricket Club at 7pm.The following game, also at Somerset Cricket Club, entertain Devonshire Cougars at 7pm.Ireland Rangers make the trek to Goose Gosling Field tonight as well to take on BAA at 9pm.Tomorrow’s Premier Division matches see Flanagan’s Onions travel to Wellington Oval to play Hamilton Parish, while North Village also travel east to take on St David’s.The other match of the day will see Wolves tackle Dandy Town at Devonshire Rec.First Division action sees St George’s play Paget at Wellington Oval, while X’Roads and Young Men’s Social Club play at Garrison Field and Devonshire Colts meet Boulevard at Police Field. All Premier Division matches start at 2.30pm, and First Division games at 12.30pm unless otherwise stated.
