Schools set to battle in two-day football festival
Bermuda School Sports Federation (BSSF) will hold their Knockout Cup finals at the National Sports Centre this weekend.
and BFA Field tomorrow and Saturday.
Fifteen semi-finals will be held tomorrow at NSC and BFA Field, while the finals for all eight divisions will be staged on Saturday at the north field.
Manny Faria, the BSSF administrator, said: “The BSSF wanted to showcase the best teams in the school leagues in one central venue during a two-day festival. The BFA has once again been extremely accommodating and there will be no youth football league matches on Saturday.”
The semi-finals get underway at 2pm tomorrow with four matches at the north field. Saltus will play Dalton E Tucker in the Primary School girls’ semi-final, while defending champions Saltus take on Whitney Institute in the other semi-final.
A new champion will be crowned in the middle school Under-13 division as Clearwater, who won both titles in the division last year, did not make the final four this year. Saltus, who defeated previously undefeated TN Tatem earlier in the competition, will face league contenders Somersfield Academy, while league leaders Sandys will battle Whitney.
In the girls’ primary school final, Elliot Primary will battle Purvis Primary.
League champions Sandys play against BHS in the middle school girls semi-finals, and league champions, Berkeley Institute, will square off against CedarBridge Academy in the under-16 semi-finals. Saltus and Warwick Academy will face each other in the other semi-final.
The primary school boys’ semi-finals will see west central champions Paget take on west champions Dalton E Tucker. In the other semi-final, east zone champions St George’s Preparatory will face the winner of Elliot Primary and Somerset.
The over-13 Middle School semi-finals will see defending champions, Clearwater, take on rivals Whitney Institute. Dellwood tackle TN Tatem in the other semi-final.
Tomorrow’s evening games kick off with the senior school varsity semi-finals and the senior school girls’ semi-final.
Warwick Academy will place Saltus, while defending champions, CedarBridge Academy face Berkeley Institute.
CedarBridge Academy are already in the girls’ final and await tomorrow’s winner between Saltus and The Berkeley Institute.
Admission is free for both days and vendors will be selling food and refreshments on both days.
