Trinidadian consultant to appraise local game
A top Concacaf technical consultant is to lead a “root and branch” appraisal of the technical and tactical efficiency of Bermudian football next month.
Keith Look Loy, a former technical adviser for the Trinidad national team, will work closely with the newly established Bermuda Technical Study Group in analysing the Appleby Youth Leagues and Premier and First Division.
The Bermuda Technical Study Group will be charged with producing reports and feedback for all teams involved in the evaluation. It is hoped the appraisal will help gauge the standard of the domestic game both at the senior and junior level.
Loy, the owner of Santa Rosa Soccer, arrives in Bermuda on February 13. He is a former technical director of Trinidadian club Joe Public and Fifa development officer. Loy also formerly coached Trinidad’s under-17, under-20 and under-21 teams.
A delegation from Fifa spent a week on the Island last summer as part of an evaluation of the Bermuda Football Association.
The delegation met with numerous stakeholders and the BFA executive as part of their appraisal, which has formed the basis of a working partnership between the two parties.
They also visited Police headquarters and held a meeting with the domestic football clubs at Devonshire Recreation Club.
Additionally, the delegation spent time at Curving Avenue and St Monica’s Road to ascertain how Fifa and other agencies could help to play a part in helping local communities
Fifa last year committed $1.3?million to develop the soon-to-be constructed Clyde Best Centre of Excellence at Gym Field as part of their Fifa Goal project.
