Hood’s championship hopes dented

Robin Hood suffered a major setback at the weekend in the Corona League title race, losing 2-0 to Lock N Key at Goose Gosling Field.

In the thick of a three-way battle for the title with Tuff Dogs and North Village, Hood dropped valuable points.

Goals from Chris Anderson and Chris Furbert sealed the win for Key.

Dogs, the league leaders, beat BAA 6-3 to open a four-point advantage at the top of the table.

Justin Robinson and Lamaul Crofton scored braces for Dogs, with Thomas Browne and Julian Caisey were also on target.

Chris Taylor, Chris Lima and Ross Nottingham scored for BAA.

Village, who are third, closed the gap between themselves and Hood to just one point with an 8-2 thrashing of Valley FC. Matthew Madeiros led the onslaught with a hat-trick and Robert Wilson helped himself with two goals. Ralph Bean, Jawan Thomas and Aljame Zuill were also on the scoresheet.

Peter Sampson scored both Valley’s goals, as they remain rooted to the bottom of the table.

West End United got the better of Lobster Pot in their nine-goal thriller, winning 5-4.

Matthew Carvalho scored twice, with Dennis Aubrey, Genie Simmons and Henry Santucci also on target.

Marco Mota scored twice for Pot, who also got goals from Javon Minors and Ryan Minors. Flanagan’s Onions and Vasco drew 2-2. Darren Thompson and Mark Halpin struck for Onions, and Ricardo Madeiros scored both Vasco goals.
