‘Win will all but secure Parish’s survival’

Hamilton Parish coach Kieshon Smith with midfielder Clevon Hill

Kieshon Smith, the Hamilton Parish coach, has urged his side to move a step closer to securing their Premier Division survival when they play bottom team St David’s at Lord’s tomorrow.

The two clubs are separated by five points in the league table and a victory coupled with a favourable result in the this weekend’s match between Wolves and Southampton Rangers, would be a significant boost to Parish’s hopes of avoiding relegation.

“It’s not about looking for others to get results to help your cause, you have to win your games,” Smith said.

“We have to win each game from here on out, and from the lessons we have learnt this year, I truly believe we have the capacity to get the job done.”

The game has been dubbed a grudge match by Smith, with the two teams winning promotion to the Premier Division last season.

“The two clubs don’t like each other in terms of playing for something, but it’s a healthy rivalry and good for the game,” Smith said.

“We both have the same attitude towards our respective goals, so it will be tight.

“We have learned very quickly the lessons from this season, so we can implement a few things into our game in order to be successful.”

Added the Parish coach: “This is what you play for, the situation for both sides at the moment of survival, and if we can win out maybe a spot in the Dudley Eve next year as well.

“Rangers and Wolves also have to fight for their lives at the moment, everyone can’t move forward and say they are playing Premier Division next season, someone has to lose. It’s far from over.”
