Wells fit to torment Millwall
Nahki Wells, the Huddersfield Town striker, has been declared fit for his team’s Sky Bet Championship match away to Millwall tomorrow.
The 24-year-old limped off early on with a foot injury in Huddersfield’s 2-1 home defeat to Yorkshire rivals Leeds United last weekend.
He has since passed a fitness test and resumed training ahead of tomorrow’s away game against relegation-threatened Millwall at The Den.
“I trained yesterday with the physio and today with the team,” Wells said. “I was able to get through training with no major issue or concerns and the physio declared me fit, so I’m looking forward to the game on Saturday.
“I was studded on the top of my foot and I don’t know exactly how.”
The availability of Wells is encouraging news for Chris Powell, the Huddersfield manager.
“Nahki Wells has trained, so he should be available this weekend,” the former Southend United and England defender said. “That will be great for me.”
While Wells’s return is a boost for Town, it could also spell trouble for a Millwall team whom he has tormented since signing with Huddersfield for a record transfer fee of £1.3?million.
The Bermuda player has scored three goals in two appearances against the Millwall, including his debut goal to hand Huddersfield a 1-0 home win at the John Smith’s Stadium just hours after moving from Sky Bet League one side Bradford City.
“I do have a good record against Millwall, three goals in two games and won both,” Wells said. “Hopefully I can make it four goals in three games and leave London with three points.”
Huddersfield, who are seventeenth in the table, have one of the worst away records in the Championship with just three wins.
“Our away form has been poor and that’s why we are where we are and we need to pick up more points away from home,” said Wells, who is Huddersfield’s leading scorer with eleven goals.
