Mansfield Town have been fined £6,000, £4,500 of it suspended for 12 months, for fielding Reggie Lambe, an ineligible player, in a Sky Bet League Two game against Exeter City.

Bermuda midfielder Lambe played in the match on January 17, which Mansfield lost, while unregistered.

“The club will not be appealing the decision and now considers the matter closed,” said a club spokesman.

Lambe joined the club in September and signed a contract extension in January, eight days before the Exeter match.
