Darrell at the double for Social Club

Young Men’s Social Club maintained their push for promotion with a 3-1 win over Ireland Island Rangers at Malabar Field yesterday, while X-Roads and Southampton Rangers remain on their heels in second and third place respectively.

Clay Darrell opened the scoring for Social Club in the fifth minute and added his second in the 26th after Robert Rawlings made it 2-0 in the twelfth minute. Sekai Proctor pulled one back for Rangers in the 68th minute. The home side were reduced to ten men in the 50th minute when Jahmeko Outerbridge was shown a second yellow card.

X-Roads blanked Paget 4-0 at Garrison Field to remain second. Jefferson Gonzales opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, then a Robert Richardson own goal in the 42nd minute double the lead before Antinori Butterfield made it 3-0 just before the half. Daniel Baker closed out the scoring five minutes from the end.

Southampton and St David’s, level on 13 points going into the weekend, also scored four goals in their respective matches, although St David’s had to settle for a share of the points after a 4-4 draw with Wolves. Kevin Hurdle and Dunte Albuoy both scored twice for St David’s while Kyle Brangman did likewise for Wolves, who also got goals from Lamelle Paynter and Vince Minors.

Southampton took over sole possession of third place with their 4-3 win over Hamilton Parish. Ezekiel Stoneham opened the scoring for Rangers in the eighth minute before Jermiah Steede equalised for Hamilton Parish four minutes later. Jakhai Dyer put Rangers back in front, only for John Hunter-Dyer to pull it back to 2-2.

Dominique Hall and Kahleel Simons returned Rangers to a position of strength before Hunter-Dyer netted his second goal of the game to make it 4-3.

In the other match, St George’s Colts beat BAA 3-1 at Wellington Oval. Wayne Broadley, Allan Douglas and Jahron Dickinson scored for the home side, who played against ten men for the last 20 minutes after BAA had Seth Somner sent off for a foul on Douglas.
