BAA on course for First Division Shield
Holders BAA remained on course to retain their title after this emphatic 5-1 First Division Shield quarter-final victory over Wolves at Goose Gosling Field on Saturday night.
Troy Tucker and Ian Simmons gave hosts BAA a two-goal lead before Lamelle Paynter reduced the deficit in the eleventh minute. Morriko Iris restored BAA’s two-goal cushion in the 34th minute, with defender Tyrell Burgess bagging a second-half brace.
Young Men’s Social Club beat X Roads, last season’s beaten finalists, 4-1 in a penalty shoot-out after 90 minutes plus extra time failed to separate the sides at Bernard Park yesterday.
Social Club’s Clay Darrell, Cory Burgess, Davun Hill and Nique Armstrong all converted their spot-kicks while X Roads’s Tymon Daniels dragged his wide and Aaron Spencer had his effort saved.
Jorge Sanchez was the only X Roads player to convert in the penalty shoot-out. Darrell put unbeaten First Division leaders Social Club ahead in the 53rd before Mackih McGowan equalised in the 65th for an X Roads side who ultimately paid the price for wasting a plethora of chances.
Elsewhere yesterday, St David’s hammered Ireland Rangers 10-0 at Goose Gosling Field.
Dunte Albouy led St David’s charge with a hat-trick, while Kevin Hurdle and James Pace each netted braces.
DeJun Fishenden, Zachary Morris and Mikkail Crockwell (penalty), the goalkeeper, also got in on the scoring as St David’s had things all their own way against winless Rangers.
Yesterday’s remaining First Division Shield quarter-final saw St George’s thrash Hamilton Parish 7-0 at St John’s Field.
Jarazhino Basset notched a hat-trick, Donavan Thompson added a brace while Jahron Dickinson and Allan Douglas scored one apiece.
