Wells and Co in line for bumper payday

Nahki Wells is set for a cash windfall with Huddersfield Town paying their players more than $5 million in total for securing promotion to the Premier League on Monday.

Huddersfield beat Reading 4-3 in a penalty shoot-out after a goalless 120 minutes in the Sky Bet Championship play-off final at Wembley Stadium,

Bermuda striker Wells made 43 appearances and scored ten goals for the West Yorkshire club before capping off the season with penalties in the semi-final and final shoot-out wins.

David Wagner, Huddersfield’s German head coach, is also set to cash in following promotion with the club set to offer him a new contract worth £2 million (about $2.5 million) a year.

Wagner will have talks with Huddersfield owner Dean Hoyle to discuss summer targets as they prepare for life in the top flight next season.
