Bermuda to face Bahamas or French Guiana

Bermuda lost 2-1 to Mexico in their final League A group game in the Nations League last month

Bermuda will face Bahamas or French Guiana in round two of the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup qualifiers in June next year.

Kyle Lightbourne’s team are in League A of the qualifiers along with Cuba, Haiti and Trinidad and Tobago, and received a bye for the first round, which will take place in March.

The League B and C teams involved in tonight’s draw in Miami were French Guiana, Guyana, Montserrat and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Had Bermuda held on for a 1-1 draw away to Mexico in their final group match in League A of the Nations League last month, they would have automatically qualified for the biennial competition along with Canada, Costa Rica, Curaçao, El Salvador, Grenada, Honduras, Jamaica, Martinique, Mexico, Panama, Suriname and the United States.

However, they conceded a late goal and suffered relegation to League B of the Nations League competition.
