Clemons blames passion for sending off

Willie Clemons has apologised to his Dalkurd team-mates and the club's supporters after being sent off against Oster in a Swedish second division match last weekend.

The Bermuda midfielder was dismissed in the 73rd minute after receiving a second yellow card. The match ended 1-1 to leave Dalkurd eleventh in the table after six matches.

“I want to apologise to my fans and team-mates. I am a passionate player who wants to do my best in every match,” Clemons tweeted. “I absolutely did not want to disappoint anyone today and my eagerness to prove myself betrayed me instead.”

Clemons, 25, joined Dalkurd at the start of the season after his two-year contract at fellow Swedish side Bodens expired.

The former Southampton Rangers player left Bermuda in 2018 to participate in the Professional Soccer Consulting Baltic Showcase Tour in Latvia and Estonia in the hope of landing a professional deal.

He was initially offered a deal to by Estonian top-flight outfit Viljandi Tulevik, but turned them down and instead signed his first professional contract with Bodens, who were relegated to Sweden's fourth tier last season.
