Nahki Wells nets twice for City’s under-23s
While his opportunities in the first time have been limited this season, Nahki Wells seems to be enjoying himself playing for the Bristol City Under-23s, netting two goals in the 3-1 win over Cardiff City yesterday.
The veteran striker travelled with the young Robins to meet Severnside rivals Cardiff in South Wales, coming away with a victory as City closed the gap on Cardiff.
Wells netted two second half goals on a bitterly cold afternoon in South Wales to take his tally to eight in three appearances.
Fellow striker Tommy Conway opened the scoring early in the first half when he followed up on a fumble by the Cardiff goalkeeper to score.
Wells doubled the lead from the penalty spot in the second half after he was brought down inside the box. Cardiff pulled a goal back to make it 2-1 but Wells soon restored the two-goal advantage with his second goal of the match after rounding the goalkeeper and scoring into an empty net.
City trail Cardiff by two points and are three points off leaders Ipswich Town who have played two games more.
Wells came on as a 58th minute substitute on Saturday as City, seventeenth in the Championship standings, lost 2-0 away to Nottingham Forest.
