Marshall in the shape of his life

Larry Marshall Sr. believes his son Lamont is in the best shape of his life as he puts the finishing touches on his May 24th preparations.Marshall, who competed at the Duke Invitational in Raleigh, North Carolina, over the weekend, smashed the Bermuda 5,000 metre record by ten seconds in a time of 14 minutes, 27 seconds. It was the second record he has broken in the past three weeks, having recently shattered the national 3,000 metre record. For Marshall Sr. it is only a sign of things to come from his son as he continues his impressive form. “We are pleased with his performance, obviously taking ten seconds off what was the current Bermuda record is a great thing,” said Marshall Sr.“The ultimate is always May 24th, so he is in the best shape of his life at the moment and the last run he will do is at the end of April, which is a 10,000 metre race.“He wants to get as many records as he can because it is significant in the sense you have done something that no one else has done before.” Marshall finished 8th overall, 35 seconds behind the race winner Leonard Korir who clocked a time of 13:52. Next up for the speedster is the Tom Jones Invitational in Florida this weekend.“Going out there we thought he could get under 14 minutes, 20 seconds because running is about magical barriers,” said Marshall sr.“He fell short in that area but any time you get a record you can be pleased with your effort.“He owns the 3,000 record so he would be going to break that as well, that is something we feel is possible, and we want him to run anything under 8:25.”
