Former pros coming in for triathlon camps

Expert coaches and former pros Mike Neill and Jasper Blake will return to the Island next month to run a series of Bermuda Triathlon Association camps and seminar.Blake is a past Ironman Canada winner while fellow Canadian Neill is a multiple winner of the Gulf Coast Triathlon. They will be joined by female triathlete Sandy Wilson who will assist them with a seminar on injury prevention and treatment. The third annual Bermuda Triathlon Association camps have again attracted a strong entry reflecting the popularity of these camps in previous years. More than 40 entries have been received for the Beginners, Refresher and Advanced camps that will run from January 26 to February 3 with evening and weekend sessions scheduled and concluding with a final informal dinner.“The Beginners Camp really is for complete beginners of all ages and does not require participants to have fancy racing bikes”, said local organiser Dave Morrison. “The swim is in shallower water so participants can stand if they want to.“The Refresher course is perfect for those people who have done a couple of events but want to learn more about how to train and race well. The courses are designed so that everyone can go at their own pace. The coaches are very popular and relate well to all ability levels.”The seminar on injury prevention and treatment is open to the general public and not just camp participants. The entry deadline for the triathlon courses is today.Further details and entry forms for both the camps and seminar are available at www.bta.bm.
