Duffy wins in Beijing

Race winner Flora Duffy

Flora Duffy is enjoying a strong finish to her shortened season after winning the Beijing International Triathlon today.

Duffy, who returned to action in August after a 12-month foot injury, finished the Olympic-distance race in a time of 2hr 4min 54sec.

Lucy Hall, of Britain, was the second woman across the line in 2:06:52, with compatriot Non Stanford coming third in 2:08:43.

Also competing in the professional women’s field were Canadian Paula Findlay, who won the race in 2017, and Olympian Carolina Routier, of Spain,

Duffy continued on the comeback trail with a third-place at the Banyoles ITU World Cup in the north of Spain last month.

She made her long-awaited return from injury at the Tokyo Olympic Test Event in August, winning in controversial fashion after British leaders Jessica Learmonth and Georgia Taylor-Brown were disqualified for causing a deliberate tie.

The Bermudian followed that up with a solid performance at the World Triathlon Series Grand Final last month, finishing fifth.
