Google Me misses out on fastest time

Multiple track record-holder Google Me flirted with the season’s fastest time during the last round of harness racing at Vesey Street.The five-year-old mare, jointly owned by the father and son pair of Robert and Tyler Lopes, posted the fastest time of 1:03/2 competing in the Free for All division with driver Candyce Martins at the helm.Google Me’s time was three fifths of a second slower than the season’s fastest time of 1:02/4 achieved by Aaron Sims’s gelding, Simsfield Hardtimes, last month.The Lopes’s Indiana-bred racing pony holds the overall track record, which stands at 1:01/1, as well as the mare’s and four-year-old’s records and is the only mare to win the coveted Champion of Champions.Gold N Glory was the only other pony breaking the sub — 1:04 barrier during the November 2 race at the Bermuda Equestrian Centre.Charles Whited’s gelding, who presently holds the two-year-old’s and three-year-old’s track records, posted the second fastest time of the day of 1:03/4 with driver Christian Truran in the sulky.Andy Stoneham’s eight-year-old stallion, Custard The Dragon, posted the third fastest time of 1:04 also competing in the Free for All division with driver Andrea Westerfield.Captain Chaos (Graceland Stables), Rockeyed Optimist (Kelsey Durham) and Whatyatalkinbout (David Burrows Jr) were all multiple heat winners spread across three separate divisions. Harness racing resumes on Monday at Vesey Street, starting at 1pm.
