Bermuda win five more medals

Bermuda’s national swimming team have won another five medals at the Caribbean Island Swimming Championships in Aruba to increase their tally to 28.The Islanders claimed four silver and a bronze on the fourth day of the competition on Tuesday night.Stephanie Myles started the podium procession, lowering her personal best in the 400 metre freestyle by seven seconds on her way to a silver, finishing in a time of four minutes and 37.56 seconds.Jesse Washington was in the battle of the night in his 400 free final, finishing in 4:28.80 to win silver.Lisa Blackburn continued her medal haul in the 50 metre breaststroke with a silver, while Julian Fletcher claimed a bronze in the 50 metre breaststroke..Shannon Hassell also scooped a silver in the 200 metre backstroke.Bermuda coach Ben Smith said: “This takes us to 28 medals to this point in the meet and we were fifth in the medal count at the start of the evening’s finals.“Bermuda has a small team and is challenging much bigger countries with much bigger teams.“This group of swimmers is exceptional and is making Bermuda proud each day.”
