Harbour coaches learn from Michael Phelps mentor
Officials from Harbour Swimming Club benefited from sessions hosted by Olympic legend Michael Phelps’s longtime coach at a clinic in California last week.
Shona Palmer, Kris Cash, Belinda Morrison and Caroline Black attended the clinic in Napa, California from January 9 to 11, with Bob Bowman, coach of Phelps and multiple other world champions and Olympic medal-winners, presenting some outstanding sessions.
The University of Texas coach shared his knowledge and experiences during invaluable sessions on training and coaching, while the clinic also dealt with topics such as 10 and under age-group planning, training and management through to preparing swimmers from club to college and on to elite success.
Technique and technique analysis sessions were presented by Russell Mark, a worldwide leader in analysis who has worked with numerous Olympic champions as well as multiple top US teams and professional teams around the world.
The three day course delivered invaluable content for Harbour coaches as they continue to develop and strengthen their coaching skills to assist Bermuda’s swimmers achieve their personal goals.
