Digicel Bermuda has launched a new 3G+ site at Tynes Bay, Devonshire, just one month after launching a 2G site at the same location. The company said the site provides a stronger 3G+ cellular signal to businesses and residents in the North Shore, Pembroke area and the North Shore and Middle Road, Devonshire area. The site has enhanced both 2G and 3G+ coverage, with a 93 percent penetration of full signal strength in these areas. Customers will notice improvements in both their voice and data signal as a result.Digicel Bermuda CEO Wayne Caines said the company was “constantly working to improve our service”.“North Shore and Middle Road in Devonshire are now benefitting from improved 3G+ coverage, which will enable people in these areas to access the fastest data speeds in Bermuda on their mobile phones and USB modems.”Mr. Caines continued, “Our technical team climbed colossal heights twice daily, dragging feeder cable and lifting heavy boxes of equipment up the 240 ft tower to ready the site for launch.“We are very proud of the herculean work that has been done by our Digicel Network Technician, Steven Douglas, and Field Engineer, Ignacio Pascua.”“As you can imagine,” stated Digicel Bermuda technical director, Daniel Degiorgio, “drilling the concrete and installing the equipment was a huge challenge. This has been the most challenging install for Digicel Bermuda.”
