Tourism introduces Cup Match Summer Splash for visitors

The Department of Tourism hopes to encourage tourists to join in the fun of Cup Match, with designated seating areas and complimentary cruises over the holiday.As part of Cup Match Summer Splash, visitors will have access to a special seating area at Somerset Cricket Club during the two-day match.The Department of Tourism will also have a complimentary seating area and refreshments at BeachFest celebrations at Horseshoe Bay on August 2.Two free visitors-only cruises a Sunset Swizzle cruise and a cruise to Mangrove Bay for the Non-Mariners Race, will round out the weekend’s events.A press release from the Department of Tourism stated that more than 1,000 tourists used last year’s visitors’ tent during Cup Match. The weekend cruises were also well attended.Tourism Minister Wayne Furbert said: “We have organised and sponsored these events so that during the Cup Match holiday our visitors will have plenty to see and do and more importantly engage in the festivities with locals and enjoy the atmosphere and excitement of Cup Match in Bermuda.”We hope Bermudians will encourage their friends overseas to come to Bermuda and enjoy Cup Match and take advantage of the events and activities that will be held on-Island to enhance our visitors’ experience.”The Department of Tourism has released a promotional video on YouTube showing scenes from last year’s Cup Match holiday events to attract visitors to the festivities.Visitors who wish to attend the cruises must RSVP to tcthompson@gov.bm by July 31.
