Tourism to get awards
The Bermuda Department of Tourism has taken top honours in a global marketing competition.The department is to be recognised with two awards for “public relations excellence” at the 56th annual Adrian Awards organised by Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International.The awards will be officially presented at a black-tie gala in New York on January 28.The annual contest attracted 1,100 entries this year. Bermuda was acknowledged with a gold award for securing a key presence on the ABC reality show ‘The Bachelorette’. The department will receive a silver award due to a nine-page feature on the Island that appeared in the June/July 2012 issue of ‘Garden & Gun Magazine’.Said Tourism director William Griffith: “We are honoured to receive these awards, and pleased to know that our efforts to promote our lovely Island are recognised such a prestigious organisation. These achievements demonstrate our commitment to raising awareness of so much more Bermuda has to offer travellers and positioning the Island as an ideal vacation destination.”
